註 Hubert Lafayette Sone

Hubert Lafayette Sone (1892-1970), born on June 7, 1892, in Denton, TX, received education at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, where he got his B.A. in 1917, M.A. in 1926, and D.D. in 1927. He went to China in 1920, and worked as the superintendent at the Institutional Church in Huzhou (湖州), Zhejiang Province, until 1933, when he was appointed professor of Old Testament at Nanking Theological Seminary. Sone was one of the 14 Americans who remained in the fallen Nanjing when massacre was in progress. As the associate food commissioner of the International Committee for the Nanjing Safety Zone, he played an active role in relief work to help Chinese refugees. Sone passed away on September 6, 1970, in Fort Worth, TX.
